I’ve been steering clear of grains and legumes since October. During the holidays I did eat some gluten free grains (pumpkin bread is the shit, ok?), but since the holidays ended I’ve gone back to being strict about removing them.

I’ve wavered between paleo and autoimmune paleo. The reason is because doing an elimination diet last year I identified that nightshade veggies don’t bother me (or at least give me symptoms). BUT the more and more I dive into the science behind taking these vegetables out, along with grains and legumes, the more I’m beginning to think that maybe it’s a good idea. Just because something doesn’t give me symptoms right away, doesn’t mean it’s helping my gut heal.

The Paleo Mom has amazing resources that break it down into a way that non-science minded people can understand. I’ve been reading her The Paleo Approach for months now. I say I’ve been reading it for months, because it seriously could be a medical course textbook. And I LOVE that! I’m learning more than I ever wanted to know! It seriously is so interesting to me that I wish I could go to medical school. But, since I’m pretty sure that won’t be happening any time soon, I’ll rely on this amazing source to give me accurate information to learn!
